Treatment for the Whole Person

Evolve San Jose offers individualized mental health and substance abuse treatment in San Jose, the largest city in Silicon Valley. Located in the well-known Rose Garden neighborhood, our central location near the I-280/880 interchange makes us easily accessible from Willow Glen, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Cupertino, Downtown, and Santa Clara. We’re less than a 10-minute-drive from San Jose International Airport as well as a myriad of high schools, middle schools, and universities. Our prime location also offers a wealth of outing opportunities that we take advantage of during staff-supervised outings: In Downtown, the Tech Museum of Innovation (formerly known as “the Tech”) is a Silicon Valley landmark with premier science and technology exhibits and interactive programs. Additionally, Vasona Lake Park and Los Gatos Creek trails are well-known for their nature paths and stunning views, and many San Jose residents spend relaxing weekends there, biking, walking, or jogging.

Our teenagers receive therapy in a safe, supportive setting ideal for healing and recovery. Treatment can be hard work, but we know our teens can learn practical coping skills while learning about themselves, having fun, and building enriching new relationships. We encourage personal growth and lay the foundation for sustainable, lifelong recovery.

Two Levels of Personalized Care

At Evolve San Jose, we learn everything we can about each of our teens before creating their individualized recovery plan. We find out what they like and what gets them excited, then translate that knowledge into a customized program that serves their specific needs. We apply traditional approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Group DBT, Family Therapy, Multifamily Groups, and Parent Support Groups. Teens have dedicated hours for educational and academic support so they can stay on track with schooling. As we believe that adolescents connect differently to various modalities and that recovery can happen anywhere, we equally emphasize experiential activities such as art, music (including Rock to Recovery sessions!), dance, strength training, yoga, and more.

Adolescents receive our full spectrum of solution-focused, data-driven, evidence-based, results-oriented therapy at each level of care:

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Our partial hospitalization program serves teens who live at home and attend the Evolve full-day treatment program. At the PHP level, teens receive two individual therapy sessions per week, one psychiatry session per week, and daily academic support. PHP is a full day of treatment, offered five days a week. The program can serve as a starting point for teens who need more structure than our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), or it can be a step-down option from Residential or Inpatient Hospitalization.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serves teens transitioning down from a higher level of care (PHP, Residential or Inpatient Hospitalization) or can be a solid entry point for teens who need more structure than their weekly psychotherapy sessions. Intensive Outpatient is appropriate for teens who live at home and attend school. At the IOP level, teens receive one individual therapy session per week, one psychiatry session per week, and daily educational support. While the frequency of treatment varies according to each individual’s needs, teens in Intensive Outpatient typically receive three hours of treatment four days a week.

Location Details

You’ll find us at the corner of Davis and Park, right next door to Kumon Math and Reading Center. We are just a few minutes away from the Municipal Rose Garden, a 5.5-acre park with a central fountain and thousands of rose bushes after which our neighborhood is named. Also nearby is the serene Rosicrucian Park, which includes an Egyptian Museum, Planetarium, and Research Library.

We know that our teens will be working hard—physically, mentally and emotionally—every time they walk into our doors. As such, our space is aesthetically designed to be soothing and calming. The open common area (complete with fun, brightly colored geometric seat stools) are used for socialization and down time, and our private therapy rooms are intimate and welcoming. Our school room is equipped with computers and printers so students can keep up with their school work and therapy assignments. Merging Silicon Valley functionality with casual, homey vibes, our large, comfortable space is the epitome of what an intensive outpatient program should feel like.

Which level of care do I need?
