Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) For Teens From Seattle, Washington

Being a teenager is difficult under the best of circumstances. They are learning more about who they are and what they want to do when they grow up. They face pressure from school and from their peers. When they are also grappling with feelings of sadness or other symptoms of a mental health disorder, or worse, when they are having trouble with an addiction, it can amplify all of the other stress.

The good news is Evolve Treatment Centers can help them face those problems head-on and move through their adolescence in a healthy way.

How Is DBT Helpful for Teens?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) helps treat individuals who exhibit self-harming behavior, have suicidal ideations, experience trouble with emotional dysregulation, or other behavioral and/or mental health issues. Its aim is to help change the way a person thinks so they become more positive and have fewer negative thoughts.

Young patients will learn DBT skills for teens that are based on five core pillars:

  • Interpersonal effectiveness
  • Distress tolerance
  • Finding balance
  • Emotion regulation
  • Mindfulness

Teenagers will attend one-on-one meetings when they are going through a crisis. They can also participate in individual and group therapy sessions.

Parents and guardians will find there are a number of reasons to find a DBT program for adolescents from Seattle. Teens who participate in the program will likely see an improvement in their day-to-day lives, including their relationships and will develop increased resilience through DBT radical acceptance.

Why Look for Dialectical Behavior Therapy in California?

Parents might be able to find DBT in Seattle, but seeking out care in California is definitely something worth considering. The weather fosters healing. In Washington, the weather can be dreary, and it’s often raining, whereas the Golden State is, well, golden. It’s sunny most of the year and offers many benefits. Also, going away from home to receive residential treatment gets the teen away from the environment that could be making the issues worse.

There are 15 different facilities to choose from throughout the Southern and Northern California regions. Patients will be able to choose from tranquil small towns to larger, busier cities. Come find out why so many people choose California when they are seeking DBT from Seattle.

Why Evolve Is Different

Parents and teens looking for DBT from Seattle will find that Evolve is different in a number of ways and worth the journey to California. First and foremost, it is a safe place for adolescents to receive the treatment necessary to put them on a healthy path. The center uses the DBT House of Treatment model for compassion-based care. The staff will help the child identify what their goals are for their treatment and what is holding them back.

They help them stay on track throughout the treatment process. As they move along, the teen will become more aware of where they are, and it affirms their growth and recovery. Evolve will also provide a parent’s guide to DBT that outlines the treatment plan.

What Does an Average Day Look Like at Evolve?

A typical day at Evolve will vary based on the needs of the teen who is undergoing the treatment. There are some things that are the same across the board, of course. Every day, there’s a wake-up call at 6:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. On the weekends, the teens get an extra hour of sleep but have to get up around 7:30 in the morning. Lights go out at 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends. Teens are served their three meals between therapy sessions.

Cost for Treatment

The cost of the DBT program varies from person to person. That’s because some require more therapy services and more inpatient treatment than others. Obviously, someone who needs more will pay more than someone who needs fewer services. The best way to figure out the cost is to speak to an admissions expert.

Insurance Coverage

Evolve accepts quite a few in and out-of-network insurance providers for youth and family DBT services. Sometimes the staff can even negotiate Single Case Agreements to process out-of-network providers as though they were in-network. Those providers include:

  • Humana
  • Oxford
  • Premera
  • United Healthcare
  • Magellan
  • Optum
  • GHI
  • CareFirst
  • Kaiser Permanente Northern California
  • Amerihealth
  • Aetna
  • Healthnet
  • Anthem Blue Cross

Evolve will contact the insurance provider during the admissions phase and validate coverage. The admissions expert will then give the parent or guardian all of the information they need to get started.

Premera Blue Cross Insurance

For those who have Premera Blue Cross insurance, Evolve is the perfect place to find a DBT program for teens from Seattle and elsewhere. The company offers comprehensive coverage for adolescents who are struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. They recognize how important it is to get ahead of those struggles and help their clients get on a healthy path. If you have Premera Blue Cross, contact Evolve today to start the admissions process.

Admission Process

Getting help can seem like a daunting task. Fortunately, once those seeking DBT from Seattle get over the initial anxiety of making the phone call to Evolve, the rest is fairly straightforward. The staff at the center will schedule an in-depth interview with the adolescent’s parents or guardians during the initial pre-screening phase of the admissions process. At this point, a recovery expert will go over the center’s philosophy and answer questions. They will go over possible treatment plans at this point.

Once the pre-screening is complete, the recovery expert will take time to learn more about the teen. They will ask for school records, treatment history, symptoms the teen is experiencing, hospital history, and clinical history. The staff will send a questionnaire and handbook for admissions, with information about everyone the teen and parents need to know.

Finally, the last phase of admissions at Evolve is when the family will meet with staff and current residents during a tour of the facility. They will make sure all of the paperwork is filled out, including consent forms. Then, the teen will begin their journey to recovery.
