Arthur Chou, MD

Dr. Chou is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. He has extensive clinical experience in the treatment of wide variety of mental health disorders, including attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma, and autism spectrum disorder. As someone who has grown up with two cultures, he is especially attuned to how culture affects the development of people and how it needs to be considered when developing a treatment plan.

Dr. Chou holds a medical degree from University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He completed his general psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, and his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at University of California-San Francisco’s Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital and Clinics. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Chou’s experience has spanned helping the underserved and rural populations of southern Arizona as the Chief Medical Officer of Horizon Health and Wellness, teaching psychiatry residents at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, working in many community psychiatry settings, and building his own private psychiatric practice. The word psychiatry is based off the Greek words: psukhē (soul, mind) and iatreia (healing); and Dr. Chou strives to help patients in this spirit.

Outside of his clinical work with Evolve, Dr. Chou loves spending time with his family, learning how to surf, snowboarding, and mixed martial arts. Music is a big part of his life and jumps at the chance to listen to live music.
