Arthur Chou, MD, serves as the Outpatient Medical Director at Evolve. As a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. Chou brings extensive clinical experience to the treatment of a wide variety of mental health disorders, including ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, and autism spectrum disorder. Having grown up navigating two cultures, he is uniquely attuned to how cultural backgrounds shape adolescent development, and he ensures these vital perspectives are actively integrated into his patients’ treatment plans.

Dr. Chou earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He completed his general psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, followed by a prestigious fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of California-San Francisco’s Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital and Clinics. He is an active member of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association.

Throughout his career, Dr. Chou has been dedicated to expanding access to care. His professional journey spans helping underserved and rural populations as the Chief Medical Officer of Horizon Health and Wellness in Arizona, teaching psychiatry residents at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and building a successful private practice. The word psychiatry originates from the Greek words psukhē (soul or mind) and iatreia (healing), and Dr. Chou grounds his leadership and clinical work at Evolve in this exact spirit of deep, holistic healing.

Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Chou loves spending time with his family, learning how to surf, snowboarding, and practicing mixed martial arts. Music is also a massive part of his life, and he jumps at any chance to catch a live show.
