The Program Director at Evolve is responsible for the management, safety, operation, and quality assurance of all aspects of program services provided at our San Jose location, including the supervision of all clinical and support staff as well as the Facility Manager. Clinical staff includes 1-2 Licensed Therapists, while support staff includes Interns (AMFT, ASW) and counselors for PHP/IOP/OP.

A primary function of this role is to conduct initial assessments to determine the level of care the client needs and the appropriateness for our programs. The Program Director will also review clinical treatment program services and outcomes and ensure compliance with program standards and objectives, applicable contracts, regulations and accreditation standards. This position also includes effective oversight of the audit of the clinical charts to guarantee adherence to county, state, and federal statues, in addition to representing our program during annual site reviews and investigations by the county, state, and federal agencies.


  • Program Directors will be responsible for carrying a caseload of 5-7 clients, including individual and family therapy
  • Responsible for running 2-3 groups/week including a weekly “Muti-family Group”
  • Develop and recommend program goals and objectives. Design and implement appropriate plans to meet agreed-upon goals. Assist subordinate supervisors in developing and meeting goals and objectives for their areas of responsibility
  • Research, plan, secure approval of, and implement new or enhanced program services
  • Conduct regular meetings with program staff to communicate program goals, objectives, and short-term and long-term plans, to provide advice and guidance in resolving complex case problems and to conduct staff in-service training
  • Implement appropriate corrective actions to resolve problems to promote continuous improvement in the delivery of treatment
  • Interview, hire, and retain program staff by overseeing training and development
  • Supervise staff schedule, evaluate the performance and competence of staff, and when necessary, discipline and discharge subordinate staff in accordance with established personnel policies
  • Approve recommendations of managers in evaluating and disciplining employees; ensure objectives for professional growth and development of staff are met
  • Periodically review client treatment plans with subordinate managers to promote optimal quality and continuity of care
  • Ensure level and quality of services provided adheres to applicable contractual obligations. Randomly audit client documentation to confirm record-keeping system complies with all governmental regulations and standards
  • Maintain and foster cooperative working relationships with a variety of referral resources and services, community organizations and criminal justice and social services agencies
  • Assist with clinical services as needed to support staff. May include community meetings, client interventions, crisis intervention, and discharge planning
  • Supervise maintenance of electronic medical records in compliance with licensing regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards
  • Monitor documentation of treatment plans and clinical notes for Utilization Review
  • Provide information for inclusion in written performance evaluations for all staff assigned in team in cooperation with appropriate members of the clinical management team


  • Responsible for the supervision of the intake/discharge processes
  • Facilitate team Case Conference on a weekly basis to ensure implementation of treatment plans and ensure the care of clients reflects the philosophy and objectives of Evolve
  • Provide leadership and counsel to clinical personnel to enhance staff development
  • Lead weekly treatment team meetings for PHP and IOP
  • Participate in management team meetings
  • Lead team collaboration for building group curriculum
  • Identify staff development needs and support appropriate training
  • Provide staff with updates/ changes to policies, proceduresand organizational goals


  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a Live Scan background check


  • Licensed for over 2 years in California as a Psychologist, MFT or LCSW
  • Exceptional clinical judgment
  • Knowledge and experience in various therapeutic orientations and treatment modalities
  • Knowledge of adolescence, mental health and other co-occurring disorders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff
  • Experience in supervision and management


  • Experience working with adolescents, particularly thosewith mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Experience in family therapy

Hours: Monday-Thursday (11am-7pm); Friday (9am-5pm)
