Understanding Trauma in Teens

DETAILS
Overview

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but it is what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness” – Peter Levine

In this presentation, learn about what trauma is and how trauma impacts a sense of safety and the ability to cope with everyday life stressors. We will explore the impacts trauma has on the brain, body, and lives of teens and how teens and their families can heal from trauma. Ashley Thomas, LCSW, a certified trauma therapist, will discuss her experience treating trauma in teens, skills that teens and their families can build now, and the various treatment approaches to break cycles of trauma and build resilience in teens and their families.
